Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on R&D projects from concept to completion. Based in Bedford, you will be hands-on with shop floor activities including production and testing, with opportunities to broaden skills across electrical and software domains.

The role involves detailed design, prototype testing, and collaboration with production and sales, with a private UK manufacturer background. 23 days holiday and a 6% pension are offered.

Qualifications

• Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with room to handle projects from concept to completion.
• SolidWorks experience and ability to work with shop floor and production teams.
• Familiarity with DfMA/DFMA and design for manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to improve design, manufacturability and cost.
• Prototype testing and validation of mechanical concepts.
• Coordinate with production and sales for stakeholder alignment.
