Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is recruiting a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer for a Bedford-based role on varied machinery projects. You will work on from concept to shop floor, designing new machines and re-engineering existing systems, with interaction across production and sales teams.

You’ll have SolidWorks proficiency, experience with DFMA, and a background in mechanical engineering (HND or B.Eng). The role offers exposure to internal stakeholders and a chance to influence projects from start

Qualifications

• Experience on design projects from concept through to completion.
• Proficient in SolidWorks or similar and willing to learn.
• Experience working with production and test (DfMA).
• BOMs and materials selection experience.

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to enhance design, manufacturing efficiency, durability, cost down, GD&T and weights and balance.
• Prototype testing.
• Internal stakeholder management with production and sales.
