Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who will take projects from concept through to completion, while staying hands-on on the shop floor with production and testing teams. You will help develop new machinery for diverse industries and ensure design quality and producibility.

Based in Bedford, you’ll join a smaller, supportive engineering team, contributing across design, prototype testing and on-site commissioning, with opportunities to broaden skills beyond mechanics.

Qualifications

• Experience with designing machines from concept through completion.
• Ability to prototype and test Mechanical systems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects (2–3) simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to enhance design, manufacturing efficiency, durability, cost down, GD&T and weights and balance.
• Prototype testing.
• Internal stakeholder management with production and sales.
