Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a private UK manufacturer of special purpose machinery. You will design new machines from concept to completion, with opportunities to work on projects from start to finish and to engage on the shop floor with production and testing.

The role emphasizes hands-on involvement, GD&T, SolidWorks, and DFMA, with exposure across mechanical, electrical and software aspects.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering design projects from concept to completion.
• Proficient with SolidWorks; willing to learn other tools.
• Experience with production and testing (DfMA).
• Experience BOMs and materials selection (stainless steel, aluminum, mild steel).

Responsibilities

• Detailed mechanical design of new machines from cradle to grave.
• Re-engineer existing machinery to improve design, manufacturing efficiency, durability and cost.
• Prototype testing and validation.
• Coordinate with production and sales stakeholders.
