Job summary

A well-established manufacturing business in Tewkesbury is seeking an experienced Engineering Shift Team Leader. This hands-on leadership role requires overseeing Engineering operations in a busy Production and Distribution environment. Key responsibilities include supporting the Engineering Manager, supervising engineers, and ensuring high standards of workmanship on automated machinery. The ideal candidate will have an electrical apprenticeship, experience in FMCG, and strong troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and adaptability to changing priorities are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Experience in FMCG environments is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain high standards in fault-finding.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering Manager in achieving goals.
  • Supervise and train Engineers.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules.
  • Repair and test electrical and mechanical plant equipment.
  • Conduct fault-finding.
  • Assist with administrative tasks.
  • Mentor Apprentices when needed.
  • Deputise for the Engineering Manager.
  • Provide holiday cover.
  • Participate in breakdown call-out.

Skills

Electrical apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification
Experience with high-speed machinery
Strong knowledge of automated machinery
Proven ability to perform electrical fault-finding
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
Adaptable to manage changing priorities
Able to work to tight deadlines
Strong communicator
Previous experience in supervision or people management
