Job Title: Health and Safety Manager | Location: Various Sites Across London, and the Southeast (Cambridge) | Sector: Construction - Interior Fit-Out | Employment Type: Full-Time | Salary: £55k - £65k | Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

Our client, a leading name in the interior fit-out sector, is looking to appoint an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Manager. This is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated professional to progress their career within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Working across multiple high-profile commercial fit-out projects, you will be instrumental in driving health and safety performance, fostering a strong safety culture, and ensuring compliance at every stage. You will work closely with project teams, carrying out site visits and audits, while providing expert guidance and support.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out regular site inspections and audits to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, internal policies, and industry best practice.
  • Reviewing a sample of site-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) prepared by contractors.
  • Investigating incidents and near misses, preparing comprehensive reports, and recommending appropriate corrective measures.
  • Maintaining detailed records of inspections, incidents, and training activities.
  • Liaising with site managers, subcontractors, and clients to promote a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Supporting the Health & Safety Team with data collection, KPI monitoring, and trend analysis.
  • Assisting in the delivery of training sessions and safety presentations.
  • Providing occasional out-of-hours and weekend support when required.
  • Updating health and safety documentation, policies, and procedures in line with current standards.
  • Contributing to the retention of key company accreditations, including ISO:45001, RoSPA, Constructionline Platinum, Once For All SSIP, and Safe Contractor SSIP.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety
  • Technical Membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH)
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
  • First Aid at Work Certification
  • Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
  • Up to 3 years' experience within the construction industry, ideally in interior fit-out projects
Key Skills & Attributes
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Confident in engaging with both site teams and senior leadership
  • Flexible approach, with willingness to work weekends or out-of-hours as required
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with SafetyCulture (iAuditor) would be advantageous, though not essential
