Job description

Sheridan Maine is delighted to be supporting a growing organisation to recruit for a Group Technical Accounting Manager. This newly established role is ideally suited to someone who enjoys technical challenge, thrives on variety, and wants to play a key part in shaping financial processes and reporting. You’ll be a proactive, detail-driven finance professional who is comfortable managing a varied workload and can communicate confidently across the organisation.

This is an excellent next step for a practice-trained accountant looking to transition into a senior in-house role where they can leverage both their technical grounding and commercial curiosity.

A hybrid working pattern is offered: 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver high-quality statutory reporting, drive improvements to internal controls, and lead the implementation of new financial processes. You’ll also act as a key contact for external advisors, ensuring the Group remains compliant across audit and tax.

Responsibilities
  • Preparing and coordinating the audit of the Group’s statutory financial statements.
  • Designing and embedding new controls, processes and reporting improvements in response to changes in accounting standards or internal requirements.
  • Leading technical accounting areas such as impairment reviews and going-concern modelling during the annual audit.
  • Managing relationships with external tax advisors to support compliance activities.
  • Preparing year-end trial balances and the Group consolidation using established Excel models.
  • Drafting the narrative sections of the annual report in collaboration with senior finance leaders.
Essential experience and skills
  • A recognised accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
  • Experience preparing or auditing statutory accounts for a multi-entity group.
  • In-depth knowledge of FRS 102, statutory disclosure requirements and group consolidations.
  • Strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

You are required to be eligible to work in the UK full time without restriction.
