Job summary

An energy firm in Swindon is seeking a Grid Engineer to join their team. If you have been working on grid connections for projects through development stages and are looking for the opportunity to work through construction and energisation stages, then this role may be interesting for you!

This role is with a growing IPP working on solar and energy storage across the UK. Their portfolio of projects is extremely healthy with over 7GW of projects at various stages in the project lifecycle. This pipeline is made up of both transmission and distribution level connections, with this role focusing heavily on DNO level connections. Their pipeline is across various stages of the development lifecycle, ranging from early development stages and through constrcution into energisation and operation stages. Additionally, they have NSIP projects with other developers in the sector.

They have been in the space for over a decade, and have grown significantly within this time. This is partly due to their strong investment partner who focuses on strong origination, development and asset management of the projects. The overall group now has pipeline across the UK, Australia and the US. Their pipeline now includes solar, wind and storage as well as behind the meter technology.

The Role

The team is hiring for this position due to strong growth and grid prospects. The team already has 2 experienced members, and is seeking a third member to extend their knowledge and understanding.

The main responsibilities will be
  • Managing grid connection portfolios for both transmission and distribution level connection agreements for projects ranging in size, up to and including 50MW+.
  • Working closley with distribution and transmission operators for these connection agreements, liaising for grid offers and managing grid milestones.
  • You’ll also be working closley with consultancies for these offers.
  • Working with internal developments and construction teams for these milestones also.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external grid stakeholders.
  • Support the development team with site assessments, landowner negotiations, and project identification.

We're open to candidates with a background from DNOs, TSOs or consultancies as well as other developers or IPPS.
