Job summary

AECOM invites applications for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer in Water to join our growing team. You will be based across our North and Midlands offices, including Leeds, with a flexible hybrid working model to support project delivery in wastewater and water infrastructure.

You’ll engage in all design stages from feasibility to construction, supporting senior engineers and collaborating with civil, mechanical, electrical and process engineers on diverse projects for major water clients.

Qualifications

• MEng in Mechanical Engineering (2:1 or above) preferred.
• Willing and able to work towards professional qualifications such as Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with the relevant institution (e.g. IMechE).
• Demonstrable interest in water projects.
• Structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team as a whole.

Responsibilities

• Mechanical Engineering Design: support senior and lead mechanical engineers in the development and management of mechanical design in wastewater and water infrastructure / treatment projects.
• Pumping calculations and specifications; Production of system schematics; Production of equipment and drive schedules.
• Production of engineering specification documents in relation to hydraulics and pump systems.
• Working with clients to assist project delivery, asset and network performance and design.
• Production of lifting, access and maintenance plans; liaise with design teams, clients and contractors.
• Provision of timely reporting to both the client and internal team lead.
• Digital Solutions: contribute to BIM, ProjectWise, P&ID’s and in-house tools.
