Job summary

AECOM is hiring Civil Engineering graduates to join the Water team in the UK, based in Chesterfield with hybrid working. The role develops key design and analysis skills across potable, surface and wastewater systems while supporting project delivery and client engagement.

You will undertake numerical analyses, feasibility studies, and infrastructure design, while pursuing professional qualifications such as ICE/CIWEM. Training, mentoring, and real project exposure are offered.

Qualifications

• BEng in Civil/Structural with 2:1 or higher is required.
• An MSc (Civils/Water) would be advantageous.
• Willing to work towards professional qualifications (ICE/CIWEM).
• Basic computer skills (Word/Excel) are essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform numerical analysis using computer programmes for potable, surface and wastewater systems.
• Conduct technical and feasibility studies for water-related solutions.
• Design water infrastructure including pump systems and pipe networks; prepare risk assessments.
• Create sketches, models, and final working drawings; check work.
• Stay updated with regulatory guidelines affecting design work.
• Collaborate with team on technical work, site work, and project management.
• Participate in site visits to understand field implementation.

Education

BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (2:1)

MEng in Civil/Structural or Water MSc

Willing to pursue ICE/CIWEM
