Job description

We are currently recruiting for a Graduate Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning across core subjects – English, Maths, and Science – within a well-regarded secondary school in Birmingham

This is a full-time role aimed at graduates who are genuinely interested in education and looking to gain meaningful classroom experience. The school is looking to build a reliable supply list of strong candidates for future opportunities, so this role is not intended to be used as short-term cover. Instead, it’s a chance to be observed and supported, with the potential for longer-term placement.

About the Role
  • Support teachers in delivering lessons and working with students in small groups or one-to-one.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.
  • Engage positively with students and contribute to a supportive learning environment.
  • Be regularly checked in on by both the school and agency to ensure the role is being used as intended – for evaluation and development, not just cover.
Requirements
  • A UK undergraduate degree in a relevant subject (English, Maths, Science, or related) however not essential.
  • A genuine interest in education and working with young people.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in a school setting is helpful but not essential.
