Job description

An established fire safety firm is seeking a Graduate Fire Engineer to join their expanding team in South London. This is a unique opportunity for a proactive, fast‑learner looking to develop quickly as a Graduate Fire Engineer through a mix of hands‑on site work and technical office‑based tasks, guided by experienced professionals. For the right candidate, there is also the potential to be supported through a recognised fire engineering degree as part of their long‑term development.

Ideal for someone who learns by doing, the Graduate Fire Engineer will be immersed in real‑world fire safety challenges from the outset. A pragmatic, solutions‑driven attitude is essential – this isn't a role for those who prefer a purely theoretical or prescriptive approach.

Role

The Graduate Fire Engineer’s responsibilities will include assisting with fire strategy reports, conducting compartmentation surveys to Bluesky standards, and supporting heat release calculations. The role is evenly split between site visits and office‑based responsibilities, giving the successful candidate a strong foundation across both compliance and design.

  • Experience in passive fire protection and/or fire risk assessments is welcomed
  • Clear communicator with a practical mindset and interest in fire safety
  • Long‑term ambition to grow within the fire engineering sector
Benefits
  • Salary of £33,000 - £46,000, depending on skillset and experience
  • Involvement in live projects from day one
  • Site‑based learning to complement technical development
  • Supportive team environment focused on mentoring and progression
  • Potential sponsorship through a fire engineering degree for the right candidate
