Job summary

AECOM is seeking Civil Engineering graduates to join our Water team in the UK with a hybrid work model and exposure to international water projects.

You will gain hands-on experience in hydraulic modelling, design, and water resources, developing reporting and project-management skills alongside experienced engineers.

Requirements include a BEng in Civil/Structural Engineering (2:1) and/or an MSc in a related water field, with willingness to pursue ICE/CIWEM.

Qualifications

• BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering with a 2:1 classification (or equivalent).
• MEng in Civil, Structural, or Water Engineering related MSc would be an advantage.
• Water related modules would be an advantage.
• Relevant work experience would be an advantage.
• Enthusiastic, hard-working, technically proficient, with ambition and drive.
• Basic computer skills essential (Word/Excel) and good report writing skills beneficial.
• Willing and able to work towards professional qualifications such as ICE & CIWEM.
• Demonstrable interest in water projects.
• Capability to satisfy client and business expectations and consider wider financial implications.
• Communicate effectively to internal and external clients, both verbally and in writing.
• Structure & prioritise work effectively through close cooperation with the team.
• Ability to work independently without losing initiative & focus.

Responsibilities

• Undertake numerical analysis including computer-based programmes for potable, surface and wastewater systems.
• Undertake technical and feasibility studies to appraise alternative solutions in potable, foul, surface water and attenuation requirements.
• Produce designs of water infrastructure such as pump systems and pipe networks with attenuation to Safety in Design, including a Designer's Risk Assessment document.
• Produce sketches, models, and check and consolidate final working drawings.
• Keep up-to-date with developments in regulatory legislation and guidelines affecting design work.
• Work with team members on technical work, site work, and project management.
• Opportunities for site work and site visits to understand design implementation.
