A local GP Surgery in South Shields is seeking a motivated Receptionist/Admin to provide excellent patient care. This role is for 27 hours a week, covering Monday to Friday. Responsibilities include processing prescriptions, managing patient inquiries, and supporting the medical team. Qualifications

  • Good standard of general education is required.

Job description

Trinity Medical Centre is a forward thinking and friendly GP Surgery with an approximate list size of 6500 patients. We aim to provide a safe, effective and easily accessible range of health services to all of our patients within a friendly and confidential environment. Delivered by a dedicated caring team in co-operation with colleagues in other health and social care agencies. We are a busy Practice situated in the heart of South Shields. Our team is made up of 3 GP Partners, 1 Salaried GP, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 Practice Nurses, a Health Care Assistant, a Phlebotomist and a full complement of administrative staff. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join Trinity Medical Centre Reception/Admin team. This is a very interesting but demanding position in the Practice, ultimately responsible to the Practice Manager but under the day to day supervision of our Office Manager.

The vacancy is for 27 hours per week worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a candidate who is well organised with excellent communication and computer/keyboard skills. Knowledge of working in General Practice and using EMIS Web are desirable but not essential.

The main tasks will be

  • Accurate processing of repeat prescriptions
  • Scanning and coding correspondence
  • Signposting patients to appropriate health care professionals
  • Dealing with patient enquiries, both face to face and over the telephone
  • Taking home visit requests from patients
  • Processing incoming emails and patient Tasks
  • Front of house reception cover

The Receptionist/Admin plays a key role as a member of themedical reception team in providing efficient, helpful and sympathetic care toPractice patients, developing skills in equating Practice protocols with patientsdemands. Through sensible use ofinitiative, flexible approach and working to consistent high standards ofaccuracy, they will provide valuable help and support to the Partners and allcolleagues in the Primary Health Care team.You will be expected to manage, plan and prioritise tasks efficientlyand effectively to achieve and maintain a high standard of patient care.
