Job Summary

We are looking to employ a Practice Nurse to join our busy team to provide high quality nursing care and support to 11,000+ patients of Hampton Medical Centre, ensuring that clinical standards and patient safety are maintained at all times. The post holder will work collaboratively with the Practice Team to deliver a comprehensive range of nursing services.

The Practice Nurse will play a vital role in offering multifaceted and essential primary care to our registered patients, including:

Job Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
  • Undertake general treatment room duties, including wound care, dressings, injections and ECGs.
  • Administer vaccinations and immunisations for adults and children in line with national schedules.
  • Manage chronic disease clinics such as asthma, COPD, diabetes and hypertension following practice protocols.
  • Conduct cervical cytology (if appropriately trained).
  • Perform health checks and contribute to NHS Health Checks and screening programmes (if appropriately trained).
  • Provide contraceptive and sexual health advice as required (if appropriately trained).
  • Support infection control and cold chain management.
  • Assist in the management of long‑term conditions and participate in health promotion activities.
  • Support urgent appointments, treatment room requests, and chronic disease follow‑ups during these sessions.
  • Work closely with GPs and the wider team to ensure seamless patient care and effective handovers.
Extended Hours Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing services during extended hours on Thursday evenings (until 8:30 pm) and Fridays, ensuring continued patient access to essential care.
Administrative and Professional Duties
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records in accordance with practice policy and NMC guidelines.
  • Contribute to Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets and other practice performance indicators.
  • Participate in audits, significant event analyses, and clinical meetings.
  • Ensure all clinical areas are well maintained and stocked.
  • Maintain professional registration and engage in continuing professional development (CPD).
