The Oncology Department at UCLH is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and dynamic General Manager to join our vibrant and supportive management team within the Cancer Division. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced operational leader to play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective day‑to‑day management of our oncology services and to drive continuous improvement across inpatient, outpatient, and day‑case settings.
Key Responsibilities
- The day‑to‑day running of Oncology services, including the Acute Oncology service and Cancer assessment unit.
- Effective management of budgets, workforce, and performance.
- Delivery of national cancer performance targets and key access targets such as Cancer Waiting Time Targets (CWT), 6‑week diagnostic targets and 18‑week RTT.
- Leading service improvement and transformation projects, supporting transformation and efficiency across all divisional sites.
- Maintaining performance in line with national targets and providing response for future surges or operational issues impacting on delivery of services.
- Delivering and supporting the development of high‑quality, safe patient care and improving outcomes.
- Clinical governance, including ensuring complaints and incidents are investigated and responded to according to Trust standards and policies.
- Activity and finance stewardship: achieving and setting annual plans, leading on delivery of CIP (cost improvement programme).

- Ensure efficient use of UCLH resources with minimum wastage and comply with the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions (SFIs).
- Follow Trust policies for personal and patient safety and for prevention of healthcare‑associated infection (HCAI); including rigorous compliance with hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment and safe disposal of sharps.
- In accordance with the Trust’s responsibilities under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, undertake work and alternative duties as reasonably directed at variable locations during significant internal incidents, major incidents or pandemics.
- Be aware of and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures, the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Data Protection Act.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
