Your Impact

At Leonardo, effective control, protection and governance of programme data is critical to mission success. As a Programme Data Controller within GCAP, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding high-value data and enabling collaboration across one of the most ambitious defence programmes in Europe.

We are recruiting for a Programme Data Controller to support the PMO and Engineering teams with data management through guidance and co-ordination with external teams and departments. Your work at Leonardo will see you managing the data portfolio for a complex engineering programme.

Responsibilities
  • You will work to support integrated project teams, aiding the design and development of new products and systems by providing guidance and management to ensure programme data and assets remain secure.
  • As the key point of contact for data transfer, this role will be essential in maintaining the project team’s ability to communicate with external partners, facilitating collaboration in a complex environment.
  • Through engagement with integrated project teams, you will be the focal point for data management and transfer, ensuring the protection of UK defence capability.
  • Your role will have a particular security slant, advising on security controls that address security concerns in accordance with legislation, regulations, security aspect letters and security grading guides.
  • Utilising a focus of supporting the delivery teams to achieve their goals, you will endeavour to provide the best possible solutions balanced against security constraints.
  • Have an in-depth understanding of company Document Management procedures, Project Security Requirements and Government Security Classifications.
  • Implement and maintain transmission of data records, for project data, in accordance with national and international regulations and security aspects (e.g. UK Export Controls). Ensuring that incoming and outgoing data is processed in line with company procedures and recorded for audit purposes.
  • Co-ordinating secure transportation of protectively marked materials.
  • Be responsible for operation of secure data transfer systems and storage areas. Co-ordinating access to physical systems and programme data.
  • Providing security advice and guidance relating to protection of sensitive information and assets.
  • Providing security briefings to new team members and refresher sessions for existing teams.
  • Managing programme security audits and musters.
  • Timely response to requests for support, involving data and document activities.
  • Continual improvement activities relating to data management and transfer, security controls and security culture.
What you'll bring

Ideally, we would like you to have the following skills; if you don’t have them but feel you could gain them whilst adding value to the team from alternative experience, we’d still like you to apply:

  • A passion for data management, security and problem solving.
  • IT Skills: Microsoft Suite particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Practical experience of data management and transfer, ideally in a security-controlled environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Government Security Classifications and the handling of related data.
  • Ability to listen, understand and communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with internal and external customers.
  • Ability to be self-directed and work collaboratively to maintain progress.

It would also be helpful if you had:

  • Experience of Crypto and ACCSEC management.
  • Knowledge of equivalent NATO standards/regulations.
  • Experience of export control or data transfer in complex environments.
