Multi‑Skilled Gate Engineer

Location: Covering Crewe to Carlisle

Salary: £40,000 plus benefits + may be some room for negotiation on this based on experience

Are you a skilled Gate Engineer looking for a role that offers stability, variety, and regional coverage from Crewe to Carlisle? Do you have experience maintaining automatic gates, barriers, and roller shutters and want to join a company that values your expertise?

Options Resourcing are working with a leading facilities management provider to recruit an experienced Multi‑Skilled Gate Engineer to join their expanding maintenance team.

The Role:

Working across sites between Crewe and Carlisle, you'll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of various automatic gate systems, including security barriers, sliding gates, and rapid roller shutters. The role includes both reactive repairs and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), ensuring all systems remain compliant, reliable, and operational.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out routine PPMs and reactive maintenance on automatic gate and barrier systems.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Support installation, testing, and commissioning of new systems as required.
  • Respond to callouts and emergency repairs efficiently and professionally.
  • Maintain clear and accurate records in line with company and client procedures.
  • Liaise effectively with supervisors and site contacts to ensure smooth delivery of service.
  • Always uphold strong Health & Safety and customer service standards.
Skills/Experience required:
  • Experienced working with automatic gates, barriers, and roller shutter systems.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault‑finding ability.
  • Organised, self‑motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and customer‑facing skills.
  • Qualified in a relevant mechanical or electrical discipline (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
Desirable:
  • Experience within facilities management or utilities environments.
  • Knowledge of other building services systems.
  • Trained in risk assessment and lone working procedures.
