An engineering consultancy in the UK is seeking an experienced engineer to assess the structural integrity of components primarily using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods. Candidates should have a degree in engineering and be knowledgeable in the mechanical/structural engineering domain. This role involves multi-project engagement, robust problem-solving, and collaboration with clients to deliver desired outcomes. In addition to a competitive salary, benefits include flexible working opportunities, professional development, and enhanced parental benefits.
We are looking to recruit an engineer experienced in assessing the structural integrity of components to support growing demand for our services from clients in the aerospace and power industries. Primarily using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) methods, you will conduct strength, fatigue (low cycle and high cycle fatigue), creep and defect tolerance assessments of safety critical parts to help our clients develop new designs, solve their operational problems, and justify the life extension of existing assets. You will write bespoke software tools to assess components more quickly, or in more detail to remove conservatism. You'll also get the opportunity to deliver and lead projects across the whole Frazer-Nash portfolio, supporting our customers in the defence, energy and transport sectors. We support projects that are high value, high performance or safety critical for world-class organisations. Our projects are very diverse and can last from a few weeks to many years of sustained support. You will typically be involved in multiple projects at any one time. You will meet and communicate with customers to understand their requirements and develop the approach to deliver the desired outcomes and insights. Although primarily a technical role, you will be joining a consultancy where we expect you'll be able to work across our business and with our clients. Good interpersonal skills are important as is the ability to make structured decisions, solve problems, and show initiative and ownership internally and externally. Reporting to your Group Leader you will be accountable for your own work and will be provided with support from more experienced engineers when required. You will support others in the team with project delivery, building client relationships and contributing to the capability development. You will have the opportunity to learn new skills and capabilities and for growth in whatever areas of engineering interest you.
