Are you interested in working as a band 5 Fracture Liaison Nurse in a friendly, dynamic, and innovative organisation in the City of Hull and East Riding?

A unique opportunity has arisen for a nursing role within this falls and fracture liaison service. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic band 5 nurse to join well-established fracture liaison service.

The service operates on a 7-day working pattern and there would be an expectation to contribute towards this including some public holidays and weekends. As a fracture liaison nurse, you will deliver the service to the local population of Hull and East Riding,

Main duties of the job

Your main duties will be to assess patients for osteoporosis risk who have acquired a fragility fracture. Throughout your role you will work with well-established supportive multidisciplinary teams and receive regular support and supervision. The falls and fracture liaison team is proactive in supporting professional development and the successful candidate will have access to a range of learning and training opportunities.

Direct fracture liaison experience may not be necessary as full training will be given.

Qualifications
  • RN 1st level registered nurse/general or adult
  • Post registered qualifications
Knowledge
  • Have an understanding of legislation and national drivers impacting on service delivery around fracture liaison and falls
  • Have an up to date knowledge of the Modernisation Agenda
  • An awareness of Integrated Team working and MDT working
  • Knowledge of evidence based practice in relation to fracture liaison and falls
  • Have an awareness of local initiatives around the assessment and management of fracture liaison and falls
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Able to mentor students
Experience
  • Basic IT skills to be able to negotiate Lorenzo, SystmOne and FRAX
  • Basic health and safety awareness
  • Experience of working within Orthopaedics and Geriatrics
  • Experience of providing training in relation to fracture liaison and falls to other health care professionals
