Location: Remote
Commitment: 5 days initially (onboarding and setup), then 1 day per week ongoing

About Us

We are an early-stage renewable energy startup dedicated to accelerating the transition to a clean, sustainable future. Having recently closed our Seed round, we are building the financial and strategic foundations needed for rapid growth. We’re seeking an experienced Fractional CFO to help us professionalize our financial operations and lead the fundraising strategy as we prepare for our next round.

Role Overview

The Fractional CFO will be a key strategic partner to the founding team. You’ll bring structure, discipline, and foresight to our financial operations while taking the lead on capital raising. Your role will include preparing the company for future funding rounds, developing robust financial models, and ensuring investor confidence through professional reporting and communications.

The initial 5-day engagement will focus on setting up systems, models, and fundraising readiness. Thereafter, the CFO will provide 1-day-per-week ongoing support, with flexibility for investor meetings, fundraising campaigns, and board sessions.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Drive fundraising strategy and execution for upcoming Seed+ / Series A rounds.

Build investor materials (pitch deck, financial model, data room).

Lead due diligence processes and serve as a key finance representative in investor discussions.

Explore and advise on diverse funding opportunities, including grants, project finance, and strategic partnerships.

Build and refine financial models, cash flow forecasts, and runway analysis.

Advise founders on financial implications of strategic decisions and capital allocation.

Ensure clear funding milestones and capital efficiency.

Financial Operations & Controls

Establish scalable accounting, budgeting, and reporting processes.

Implement financial controls, compliance procedures, and reporting cadence.

Oversee bookkeeping and liaise with accountants and advisors.

Investor & Board Relations

Prepare clear, investor-ready reporting packages and updates.

Support board meeting preparation with strategic financial insights.

Act as a trusted advisor to both the board and leadership team.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance leader in early-stage startups (Seed to Series A).

Strong fundraising track record, including equity financing, investor relations, and due diligence.

Experience setting up financial systems and processes from the ground up.

Knowledge of the renewable energy sector (preferred, not required).

Excellent communicator, able to translate complex financials into clear narratives.

Strategic mindset with hands-on execution ability.
