A local council in the UK is looking for a qualified professional to join their advisory team, focusing on monitoring childcare quality within the Flying Start program. The role requires a QCF level 5 qualification in Childcare and at least 4 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include liaising with providers and health professionals to support children with additional learning needs and ensuring quality support packages are in place. The position is based in Barry and may require travel across the Vale of Glamorgan.
Flying Start is a Welsh Government programme for families with children under 4 years and provides a range of services helping children get the best start in life.
Flying Start is leading on the 2-year-old childcare programme across the Vale of Glamorgan. The offer enables families with children aged 2-3, in targeted areas, to access 12.5 hours per week of funded childcare every week, 39 weeks a year.
Pay Details: Grade 7, SCP 20-25, £30,296 - £33,945
Hours of Work / Working Pattern: 37 hours, Monday - Friday
Main Place of Work: Barry
Temporary Reason: Welsh Government funding until 31.3.2025
Working within the Advisory Team, you will be responsible for monitoring the quality of childcare provision within Flying Start and Flying Start approved settings, to support the roll out of the 2-year-old childcare offer. You will be responsible for liaising with providers, health professionals and Education teams to support children will ALN, ensuring appropriate support packages are in place to aid a smooth transition into Nursery.
You will hold a QCF level 5 Childcare’s Care, Learning and Development (or equivalent recognised qualification) and have evidence of Continual Professional Development relevant to the role. A minimum of 4 years’ experience of working in the Early Years and Childcare Sector is essential as well as experience of working successfully with parents, colleagues and partner agencies. You will demonstrate a in-depth knowledge and awareness of the Early Years sector, enhancing children’s development, additional Learning needs relating to children, relevant legislation, guidance, research and standards relating to Early Years provision including the Wales Safeguarding Procedures and knowledge of Quality Assurance and monitoring tools applicable to childcare.
You will be required to travel to various sites across Vale of Glamorgan in connection with this role.
