Overview

This is an Outreach project linked to Clarewood Neath that recruits and supports young people at risk of homelessness and works with key organisations in the area to identify support required. The role is varied and involves working with our stakeholders, external organisations to find vulnerable young people and to provide information, prevent homelessness and develop skills needed to maintain their tenancies, change negative behaviour, maintain their health and wellbeing, progress to independent living and make appropriate decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Work with people to truly make a difference in their life
  • Carry a caseload of between 10 and 17 customers with a variety of differing needs and levels of need, depending on their situation
  • Record customer support and store key information for quarterly monitoring collection purposes
  • Provide housing related support to enable young people to take on and/or sustain a tenancy to prevent homelessness
  • To liaise and work closely with other agencies and professionals to identify and recruit young homeless threatened persons\' support needs (e.g. NPT College, Social Services, Health Services, Housing Options/NPT Gateway, Landlords and Lettings Agencies etc.)
  • Offer appropriate levels of support in a sensitive manner, taking into account the emotional and intellectual needs of the young person, respecting their choice and privacy
  • A passion to work with and enable people to live as independent a life as possible
  • An enthusiasm and passion for making a difference to people\'s lives
  • A strong initiative and ability to work alone as well as being a great team player
  • Ability to deal with conflicting and difficult situations

Contract and Hours

A full-time, temporary (maternity cover) Floating Support Worker for our Young persons service in the Neath area. Working predominantly office hours Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm (with some flexibility as role required.)

  • £24,531.00 FTE (£12.75 per hour)
