Your new company Birmingham City Council is looking for Temporary Fleet Maintenance Technicians to join their Fleet Management team at an exciting time of transformation. They have recently invested in new waste vehicles and are reviewing their wider fleet operations, making this a fantastic opportunity to be part of a modern, forward-thinking workshop environment. This is a temporary role with an immediate start.
As a Fleet Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on a variety of vehicles. Your work will ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, in line with manufacturer specifications and industry regulations. You will conduct thorough post-repair testing to confirm that safety and quality standards are met. Accurate documentation of all completed work is essential, and you will maintain detailed records of diagnostics, repairs, and servicing. In addition to your technical duties, you will mentor junior team members, share best practices, and foster a collaborative and efficient workshop environment. Staying informed on emerging technologies and developments in vehicle maintenance will be crucial to your success in this role.
Our ideal candidate is a qualified HGV mechanic with a valid HGV licence and experience across a range of vehicle types. If you don\'t tick every box, we\'re committed to coaching and training the right individuals who show potential and enthusiasm. Candidates should hold an NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or an equivalent qualification) and possess a valid UK driving licence, with an HGV licence being highly desirable. They should have experience in diagnostics and repairs within a busy workshop or fleet environment, and demonstrate the ability to manage complex repairs independently.
In return, candidates will receive an hourly rate of £20.27, including holiday, along with the opportunity for an immediate start through flexible onboarding via an agency. You\'ll be working with a newly upgraded fleet, gaining valuable experience in a large-scale public sector workshop.
