Job summary

A mental health service provider in Dover is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for a 12-month fixed-term position. You will lead a collaborative team in delivering high-quality care. The role offers flexibility, with options for a fully remote or hybrid model. Candidates must hold MRCPsych or equivalent, be registered with the GMC, and ideally possess Approved Clinician status. Are you passionate about making a real impact on the lives of people with mental health needs? Join us as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust (KMMH), leading a collaborative team and providing high‑quality care to the vibrant communities of Dover and surrounding villages.

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term, community‑based contract. You will work flexibly and collaboratively with two other consultants in the South Kent Coast Community Mental Health Teams. There are also vacancies in Deal and Folkestone – apply for whichever location interests you.

The Virtual Psychiatrist role offers a fully remote or hybrid model, with no minimum on‑site attendance required unless you prefer to work on‑site.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership within the South Kent Coastal Community Mental Health Team alongside two other consultant colleagues.
  • Offer medical input as required for patients under the care of the Community Mental Health Team.
  • Strengthen relationships with external agencies, including the local CCG.
  • Lead screening of referrals and assessment of new referrals jointly with other team members.

Successful applicants must be based in the UK, ideally holding MRCPsych or equivalent and be on or within six months of inclusion on the Specialist Register. Applicants must be fully registered with the GMC, hold Approved Clinician status and S12 approval under the Mental Health Act (or achieve this within 3 months of appointment).

Part‑time or job‑share applications are welcome.
