POSITION: Fire Service Site Engineer

The main purpose of the Fire Service Engineer role is to be responsible for maintaining and servicing fire alarm systems and emergency lighting at a large-scale hospital in Brighton, ensuring they meet current standards and customer requirements, while delivering exceptional customer service through clear communication and timely issue resolution.

Salary: Opportunity to earn in excess of £40,000 (base and overtime included).

Working Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00–16:00 (flexibility required with some out‑of‑hours project work).

What you will do
  • Conduct routine inspections of fire safety systems (alarms and emergency lighting) to meet British Standards while adhering to health & safety requirements.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs; plan your own day while site‑based across a large campus.
  • Provide technical advice to customers on fire safety best practices and help them understand and comply with regulations.
What we look for
  • Technical/Industry knowledge – competent in working on life‑safety systems, fire alarm systems and emergency lighting (18th Edition BS7671 test and inspection).
  • Electrical wiring knowledge.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills – ability to assess potential risks and propose practical solutions.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills – effective communication with stakeholders, customers and strong teamwork.
  • Adaptability to handle dynamic situations and changing regulations.
  • Full current UK driving licence.
