Qualifications

Overview

Commissioning Engineer – Fire Alarm Systems (Install / Commissioning / Small works) – Location: East Midlands. Trinity is seeking a skilled and motivated Works Engineer to join our established Midlands team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high‑profile, critical sites across the Midlands region, delivering expertly commissioned fire alarm solutions. You will be responsible for the installation and commissioning of fire alarm and life safety systems, operating within complex, multi‑panel environments. This position is ideally suited to an engineer who thrives on technical challenges and takes pride in delivering high‑quality, compliant life‑safety systems.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out all necessary works required at customer premises in accordance with the Company’s quality standards.
  • Effectively communicate with customers to ensure a good understanding of system and site status.
  • Liaise with works administrators and other internal stakeholders to ensure our commitments are met.
  • Work to a planned commission and small works schedule.
  • Experience in commissioning, installing and completing small works fire alarm systems to relevant British Standards.
  • Identify all types of cable associated with fire detection systems and correctly test and terminate the cable ends in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions.
  • Apply a logical approach to system fault diagnosis and rectification.
  • Always provide outstanding customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Understand the basic building services to test cause and effect of fire alarm interfaces.
  • Recommend changes to practices and processes that may cause false alarms and recommend changes to the systems.
  • Basic Electrical Safety training (ECA).
