Experienced Finishing Manager - Basildon

Are you an expert in the final stages of construction, with a track record in high‑specification healthcare environments?

We are seeking a highly skilled, organised, and motivated Finishing Manager to join our dedicated team on a significant new‑build project in Basildon, Essex. This role is critical in driving the project from the second fix through to successful practical completion. We require a manager who is proficient with modern site management technology and who possesses specific experience in internal fit‑out finishing works within complex environments.

The Role and Responsibilities

As the Finishing Manager, you will be crucial in ensuring that all internal and external finishes meet the highest standards of quality, adhere to clinical and fire safety specifications, and are completed efficiently to the project timeline.

Your core responsibilities will include :
  • Internal Fit‑Out Management: Expertly overseeing and managing all internal finishing trades, with a focus on delivering high‑quality internal fit‑out works (including drylining, carpentry, M&E second fix, painting, flooring, and tiling).
  • Quality Control: Rigorously inspecting and managing the standard of work across all finishing trades to meet project specifications.
  • Programme Management: Working closely with the senior site team to develop, coordinate, and maintain a detailed finishing programme to ensure key milestones are hit.
  • Defect Management: Proactively identifying, tracking, and resolving snags and defects quickly and efficiently to ensure a smooth handover process.
  • Sub‑Contractor Liaison: Managing, motivating, and supervising all finishing sub‑contractors, ensuring performance aligns with project specifications and deadlines.
  • Health & Safety: Upholding and enforcing strict health and safety protocols across all site activities.
  • Documentation: Overseeing the completion of quality assurance records, technical documentation, and final handover packs.
Candidate Profile

We are looking for a highly organised and detail‑oriented professional with exceptional communication skills and a strong ability to utilise digital tools.

Essential Requirements
  • Proven track record as a Finishing Manager, with specific experience managing internal fit‑out finishing works on large‑scale commercial or high‑specification projects.
  • Must be highly computer proficient and comfortable using scheduling, reporting, and defect management software.
  • Must possess a valid CSCS Card (Black or Gold), SMSTS, and First Aid at Work certification.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and robust knowledge of UK Building Regulations and quality standards.
  • Ability to commute reliably to the Basildon, Essex area and have reliable access to their own laptop and mobile phone for site work / reporting.
Highly Desirable (Ideal Candidate Profile)
  • Specific experience delivering complex hospital, clinical, or acute healthcare environments.
  • Familiarity with managing final inspections and compliance standards relevant to healthcare construction (e.g., HTM / HBN guidance).
