Job summary

A recruitment consultancy in the UK is seeking a qualified accountant to take end-to-end responsibility for financial control, audits, and reporting. You will prepare financial statements per IFRS, lead close processes, manage external audits, and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting. Collaboration with senior stakeholders is key. The successful candidate must possess strong experience in financial services and regulatory understanding. This position offers the chance to contribute to process improvement and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with ACCA, ACA or CIMA.
  • Strong financial services experience and understanding of reporting requirements.

Job description

Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual statutory financial statements in line with IFRS.
  • Leading month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals and reconciliations.
  • Maintaining accurate general ledger controls and balance sheet integrity.
  • Managing external audits and acting as the key point of contact for auditors.
  • Ensuring timely regulatory reporting and statutory submissions.
  • Overseeing tax compliance and liaising with external tax advisers.
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and management reporting processes.
  • Providing financial analysis and commentary to senior stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems, controls and finance processes.
  • Supervising and supporting junior finance team members.
  • Working closely with wider group finance teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
Skills / Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA) with strong financial services experience and a solid understanding of regulatory and statutory reporting requirements. They will be confident taking ownership, comfortable working with senior stakeholders and able to balance technical accuracy with commercial awareness. Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive, improvement-focused mindset are essential.
