About the Role

M&M Supply is proud to be working in partnership with a large, well-established Multi-Academy Trust to recruit an experienced Financial Accountant. This is a key role within the Trust's central finance team, supporting financial control, income management, reconciliations, payroll oversight, and year-end processes across multiple school settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee income control systems across the Trust, ensuring accurate posting, reporting and variance tracking (ESFA, Local Authorities, third-party providers, lettings, etc.).
  • Manage and monitor SEN top-up income, working closely with SENCOs, Principals, local authorities and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure robust payroll controls, including payroll reconciliations, pre-checks with HR, journal preparation, pension accounting and issue resolution.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, aged debtor reviews, accrued/deferred income processing and trial balance-level work.
  • Support forecasting and budgeting through income profiling with Finance Leads.
  • Prepare year-end schedules, statements and audit support documentation.
  • Provide expert finance guidance to school-based finance teams and act as a positive ambassador for the central finance function.
  • Line-manage finance staff within designated schools and support their development.
  • Adapt to wider finance support needs across the Trust as required.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • ACCA qualification (fully qualified)
  • Experience working at Trial Balance level
  • Prior experience with Balance Sheets, Reconciliations & strong financial control
  • Charity or Education sector experience (Preferred)
  • Some experience using Sage
  • Experience using SEMA
  • Strong analytical and IT skills (Excel & MS Office proficient)
  • Ability to support multiple finance areas and be flexible within the role
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence liaising with senior stakeholders

  • Highly organised, self-motivated and able to meet strict deadlines
  • Creative thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Previous experience in a multi-site or multi-academy environment
