Finance Manager Main Responsibilities :
- Monitoring of day-to-day financial operations and of the finance function and compliance with internal procedures and accounting standards
- Preparation of reports for Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)
- Development and management of financial analysis tools
- Preparation of the annual budget / forecast, including liaison with budget holders and MOFA
- Supporting the Finance Director with the annual audit
- Promote understanding of financial regulations and legislation
- Draft quarterly P&L, Balance Sheet and ad hoc reports for Board and Committee meetings
- Monitor and prepare of general ledger entries
- Preparation and management of sales invoices and its accurate revenue recognition
- Preparation and management of periodic accounts close (Monthly / Quarterly / Annual)
- Undertaking and management of Balance Sheet Reconciliations including bank accounts and daily sales
- Liaising with the external auditors during the annual financial audit, providing relevant audit evidence
- Liaison and reporting, as required, with MOFA, ensuring compliance with MOFA specification
- Reporting on organisation's reserves utilisation
- Cash flow management and FX monitoring
- Reviewing month end stock reconciliations for The Shop including year-end impairment and adjustments
- Assist in the setting and update of internal control policies & procedures
- Providing advice and assistance to non-finance staff
- Overview of tax administration in conjunction with external tax consultant
- Line manages two Finance Assistants
- Oversight of procurement procedures including management of purchase order system
- Preparation and creation of annual budget and forecasts
- Liaison with budget holders
Finance Manager Ideal Candidate :
- At least 5 years of relevant industry experience
- ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualified
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent level of education
- Good knowledge of UK GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills
- Competency in Microsoft Word / PowerPoint
- Experience of staff management
- Experience of developing and implementing financial / accounting systems and procedures
- Experience of working cross-culturally
- Strong attention to detail
- Good knowledge of UK tax regulations
- Knowledge of Xero or any other ERP systems
- Knowledge of working with government funding
- Experience with audit
- Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese would be advantageous
