Finance Director / Financial Controller / Head of Finance

Location: Fully Remote

Start: likely January 2026

Duration: 3 - 6 months initially plus likely extension (inside IR35)

The Role

We are seeking an exceptional Finance Director to work for one of Deloitte's clients to lead our organisation through a major period of strategic change, including the planned divestment of a key operational division. This is a senior leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, deep technical finance expertise, and the ability to operate confidently in a complex, fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the financial strategy, planning and reporting for the organisation.
• Oversee all aspects of the divestment process, including financial due diligence, data-room preparation, valuation analysis, buyer engagement and transaction support.
• Ensure financial information is accurate, complete and available for prospective buyers and advisers.
• Act as the senior finance lead for external advisers (legal, financial, tax and commercial).
• Coordinate internal teams to ensure operational, regulatory and HR information is prepared to the required standard.
• Provide robust financial modelling to support Board decisions and scenario planning.
• Maintain strong financial control, risk management and governance frameworks during the transition period.
• Lead and support the finance team, developing capability and ensuring continuity of business‑as‑usual activities.
• Provide strategic advice to the CEO and Board on the implications of the divestment, including future financial structure and sustainability.

About You

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Proven experience as a Finance Director or senior finance leader.
• Demonstrated track record of leading divestments, disposals, carve‑outs or major transactions.
• Strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management with the ability to work collaboratively across operations, legal, HR and governance.
• Experience working with external advisers in a transaction environment.
• Ability to thrive under time pressure, manage competing priorities and maintain high standards of accuracy.
• Strong leadership, communication and change‑management capabilities.
