Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious finance professional to join the leadership team and help shape the future of the business. Following recent investment, the company is on a clear growth trajectory, winning significant contracts and scaling rapidly. This is a hands-on yet strategic role, offering the chance to build a first-class finance function while influencing the broader business agenda.
As Finance Director, you will:
- Work closely with the executive leadership team to set strategy and support decision-making.
- Take ownership of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
- Implement robust systems, processes, and controls to support scale and a growing group structure.
- Lead on cash flow management, cost analysis, P&L responsibility, and technical accounting.
- Build and develop a high-performing finance team.
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, investors, and other key stakeholders.
- Provide commercial insight and analysis to guide business growth, investment decisions, and M&A activity.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Finance Director should have:
- A professional qualification in accounting or finance (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- Proven experience in a financial leadership role within a similar industry sector
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage teams and develop talent.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strategic mindset with a focus on achieving business objectives.
We are looking for a strong technical accountant with commercial acumen and proven experience in a leadership role. You will bring:
- Strong financial leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of success in senior financial roles.
- Extensive knowledge of financial management, accounting standards (UK GAAP/IFRS), and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- High proficiency in financial modelling, forecasting, and financial analysis tools and software.
- Commutability to Exeter.
