Job summary

A financial services organization in Bedford is seeking a Finance Business Partner to lead technical accounting tasks and develop the capital strategy. The role requires CIPFA/CIMA/CCAB qualification and strong technical expertise, especially in local government finance. This hybrid position offers a 3-month contract with a negotiable rate inside IR35.

Qualifications

• CIPFA / CIMA / CCAB qualified with post-qualification experience.
• Strong technical accounting expertise including capital financing and treasury management.
• Local Government experience essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead on technical accounting including closure of accounts and production of the Statement of Accounts.
• Develop and implement the Capital Strategy, annual capital budget process.
• Represent Finance at committees, project boards, and external working groups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on technical accounting including:
  • Closure of Accounts and production of the Statement of Accounts
  • External Audit liaison and member training
  • Treasury Management and Capital Investment Appraisal
  • Statutory Returns and grant submissions
• Develop and implement the Capital Strategy, annual capital budget process, and provide robust financial advice to senior stakeholders
• Represent Finance at committees, project boards, and external working groups
• Review and appraise financial implications of new legislation and ensure compliance with statutory accounting guidance

Requirements:

• CIPFA / CIMA / CCAB qualified with post-qualification experience
• Strong technical accounting expertise including capital financing and treasury management
• Local Government experience essential
• Ability to analyse and communicate complex financial information and influence senior stakeholders
