The position allows for hybrid working, predominantly from home, and requires strong organisational skills and experience in finance or payroll. This exciting opportunity also offers competitive benefits, a supportive team environment, and the chance to grow your career within a rapidly evolving firm.
Department: Finance and Operations
Employment Type: Permanent
Location: South West
Reporting To: Head of Finance and Operations
Compensation: £30,000 - £35,000 / year
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum FTE depending on experience
Location: North Devon Region – This is a hybrid role where you'll mainly work from home, with travel for meetings.
As our Finance and Operations Administrator, you’ll play a key role in keeping the heart of Fitzgerald running smoothly. You’ll support the Finance and Operations team with the day‑to‑day processes that keep everything organised, accurate and on track. From credit control and payroll support to systems, HR and client administration, you’ll be right at the centre of the work that helps the business operate effectively.
You’ll prepare documents, maintain records, support financial and compliance reporting, and help keep our systems up to date. You’ll also play an important part in keeping communication flowing, from responding to internal queries to supporting clients with onboarding, timesheets and essential information.
This means you’ll:
No two days will look exactly the same, but every day you’ll make sure the details are right and the work keeps moving.
You’ll bring experience in finance, payroll or operations administration, and you’ll be confident working with numbers, data and detailed information. You’ll have supported bookkeeping, invoicing or credit control processes before, and you’ll understand how important accuracy and organisation are in a busy operational role. You’ll also have some experience supporting payroll, whether that’s preparing information, updating records or coordinating with clients and system providers.
You’ll be someone who naturally keeps things tidy and running smoothly. You’ll enjoy organising, prioritising and planning ahead, and you’ll be comfortable juggling different tasks without losing sight of the detail. Strong communication skills are important too. You’ll be clear, friendly and confident; whether you’re responding to queries or creating documents others rely on.
Relationships matter to you. You’ll work fairly and openly with others, building trust through being reliable and approachable. You’ll be curious, keen to learn, and willing to pitch in where needed so the team can deliver great work. You’ll also be comfortable using technology, from Outlook and Excel to online systems and platforms, and you’ll hold a UK driving licence so you can travel when required.
Above all, you’ll take pride in doing things properly. You’ll care about quality and accuracy and you’ll play your part in helping the business operate smoothly every single day.
We’re probably biased, but we think this role is exciting, interesting, fun, challenging, full of growth opportunities… we could go on. All that aside, we also offer:
At Fitzgerald, we think one‑size‑fits‑all doesn’t make anyone look good. Instead, we promise to make space for you to bring your whole self to work, not just your job title.
Job titles change, after all. Working here, in time yours might too. We’re betting the future of our business on each of us, so we don’t just talk about development – we invest in it. Specifically, we invest in you.
So if you want to learn something new or deepen your expertise, you do the work and we’ll support you all the way. Because when you get better at what you do, so do we.
And when life throws curveballs – which it always will – we’ll make sure you’ve got the flexibility and support you need. We understand that time to rest and recharge is important and we’ll make sure you get it, along with a work/life balance that always treats you like an adult (and trusts you accordingly).
Because we want everyone here to play a big part in what comes next for Fitzgerald, to build our future, be involved in decisions, and be valued for your input.
We’re Fitzgerald. We do work that works for you.
