Job description
Overview

We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Kansas City, MO. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Completing repair activities on generators or components
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools
Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance (PM) on a wide range of equipment to ensure optimal performance and reduce unplanned downtime
  • Conduct diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify root causes of equipment failures and perform necessary repairs
  • Maintain detailed service records and communicate maintenance needs and findings effectively to supervisors and team members
Qualifications
  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision - hands on exposure to working on power generation products
  • Basic Diesel Engine experience
  • Proficient troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components
  • Able to perform repairs on ATS systems and able to perform commissioning on a new ATS installation
  • Apprentice Certified Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
  • Current relevant electrical certification
  • Locally valid driving permit
  • Experience: Basic level field service work experience; Intermediate knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products; High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience; Customer service experience
  • 2+ years of experience in industrial or mechanical maintenance, with demonstrated ability in preventative maintenance practices
  • Strong diagnostic skills with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools, and familiarity with lockout/tagout and other safety procedures
  • A current valid license is required for this role
  • This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
  • This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
  • 3 years driving experience
  • This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Book use
  • Federal law requires a CDL holder to be 21 years of age or older; applicant must be 21 years of age
