Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support the HS2 project across Coventry, Solihull, Warwick, Birmingham and surrounding areas. You will diagnose faults, service and repair Volvo construction equipment in the field, working directly with customers to maximise uptime.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance/related engineering, strong diagnostic skills, a full UK licence, and willingness to travel. Competitive benefits accompany the position.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant with diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrics, and diagnostics.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, maintain, and repair Volvo construction equipment on HS2 sites.
• Communicate status, progress, and recommendations to customers.
• Complete documentation, timesheets, and records in real time.
