Job summary

SMT GB in the UK is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support the HS2 project, servicing Volvo construction equipment at sites across Coventry, Solihull, Warwick and surrounding areas. The role mixes on-site diagnostics, repairs, and proactive maintenance to maximise machine uptime.

You must hold NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent, with extensive experience in heavy plant and HGV systems, plus a full UK driving licence and readiness to travel.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or related engineering.
• Experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment including diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrics.
• Strong fault-finding and ability to work independently in field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment across HS2 sites.
• Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using diagnostic tools.
• Be primary point of contact for customers, providing updates and recommendations.
• Complete all job documentation, inspection reports, and timesheets in real time.
• Maintain high safety and site procedures compliance.
