Job summary

SMT GB is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to support the HS2 project, covering site locations across the Midlands and surrounding areas. The role focuses on maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of Volvo construction equipment, with a field-based, customer-facing remit.

You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, and maximise uptime while following safety procedures and delivering outstanding service to our clients on HS2 sites in Coventry, Solihull, Warwick, Birmingham and nearby

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance or related engineering discipline.
Experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
Ability to diagnose faults and work in a field-based environment.
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

Diagnose faults, service, maintain, and repair Volvo construction equipment on HS2 project sites.
Work independently with customers and provide updates on machine status and repairs.
Complete all job documentation and timesheets in real time.
Maintain safety, professionalism, and adherence to site procedures.
