Field Service Engineer – Heavy Construction Equipment

Job summary

SMT GB is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to service Volvo construction equipment across the local region. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair machinery in the field, working directly with customers to maximise uptime.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or related field, plus strong diagnostic skills and a valid UK driving licence. Travel across designated areas and occasional overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Excellent diagnostic and fault-finding abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment and associated machinery.
• Identifying and resolving mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related faults.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates on machine status and repair progress.
