Job summary

SMT is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support the HS2 project, servicing and repairing Volvo construction equipment across sites in the Coventry, Solihull, Warwick, Birmingham and surrounding areas. You will diagnose faults, perform maintenance, and drive customer satisfaction with high uptime.

Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or related field and have proven experience with heavy construction plant. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or related discipline is required.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesels, hydraulics, electrics and diagnostics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults, service, maintain and repair Volvo construction equipment on HS2 sites.
• Work independently with customers, ensuring maximum machine uptime.
• Provide clear updates on status, repairs and recommendations.
• Complete job documentation, timesheets and site records accurately.
• Maintain safety, professional standards and compliance with procedures.
