Overview
Field Service Engineer required in the Midlands Area.
Our client, a well-established leader in automated storage solutions, is seeking a dedicated Field Service Engineer to join their growing engineering team, covering the Midlands area. Reporting to the Area Manager, you will be field-based, with travel across the Midlands and occasional national/international travel for training.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections, annual servicing, routine maintenance, and repairs on automated storage systems.
- Diagnose and resolve technical faults independently.
- Support system upgrades, including software updates.
- Assist with the commissioning and installation of new systems at client sites.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns.
- Provide technical support and product training to clients.
- Complete and submit accurate service reports and documentation promptly.
- Manage travel and schedule efficiently.
- Develop in-depth knowledge of automated storage products and systems.
- Represent our client professionally with a friendly and presentable manner.
- Occasional national and international travel (for training purposes).
Location and travel
Based in and around the LE, CV, WV, WS and B postcode regions. A UK driving license with minimal points is required. This is a field-based role, so travel will be required. The company provides a van.
Requirements
- Strong willingness to learn and a hands-on, proactive approach.
- Experience or qualifications in mechanical, electrical, or general engineering.
- Excellent fault-finding and technical problem-solving skills.
- Full UK driving licence with minimal points.
- Flexibility for regional and occasional national travel (including overnight stays).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Professional presentation and a customer-first attitude.
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
- Experience in storage solutions or materials handling (desirable but not essential).
- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
