Overview

Field-Based Engineer (Recycling/Waste Equipment) Location: Nationwide (Predominantly Midlands, some nationwide coverage required). Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 Basic DOE + overtime package (paid at 1.5x).

Join a leading specialist in waste management. We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established company in the waste management industry, known for technical expertise, reliable service, and strong customer relationships. Due to substantial growth, they are looking for an experienced Field-Based Engineer to join the team with baler & compactor experience.

Responsibilities
  • Installation, commissioning, and operator training on balers and compactors
  • Fault diagnosis, servicing, and repairs on waste machinery both on-site and at HQ
  • Maintenance of electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Machine refurbishment to high standards
  • Slinging, lifting, and safe handling of heavy equipment
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Preparing accurate digital service reports
  • Working closely with customers on-site and collaborating with internal teams
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with balers, compactors, or similar waste machinery
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Welding skills (essential); fabrication experience (desirable)
  • Full UK Driving Licence (clean)
  • Forklift Truck Licence (training can be provided)
  • Confident communicator with strong customer service skills
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible for occasional Saturday work (paid overtime) and possible overnight stays (subsistence provided)
