Job summary

A community support organization is seeking a Family Support Worker for Tregaron Family Centre. The role involves planning activities for children and families, providing support, and encouraging community engagement. Candidates should have a relevant childcare qualification (NVQ/QCF Level 3), experience working with families, and ideally some knowledge of First Aid. Knowledge of Welsh would be advantageous. Overview

Job title: Family Support Worker
Place of work: Tregaron Family Centre
Dimensions of the job: Working with other members of the project staff, volunteers, workers from other agencies, and family centre users.

Key responsibilities
  • Plan, organise, support and develop activities for pre‑school children and their families in accordance with the framework for practice.
  • Assist with monitoring and evaluation of the family centre service.
  • Provide a safe, stimulating environment for children and support families.
  • Develop and deliver organised play activities for children and their families.
  • Provide outreach into the community, contacting isolated families and encouraging their participation in the family centre.
  • Work alongside centre volunteers and support families on various issues.
  • Plan programmes in liaison with the Coordinator.
  • Take care of play equipment and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
Qualifications and experience

Relevant qualification in childcare, NVQ/QCF Level 3 (or equivalent) and experience of working with children and families.
Basic knowledge of First Aid and a Food Hygiene Certificate will be desirable or a willingness to attend a course.
The ability to speak Welsh will be an advantage for this post.
