Job description

A reputable and well-established law firm based in Reading is seeking an experienced Family Solicitor to join their supportive and close-knit team. This is a permanent position offering exposure to a varied caseload of privately funded family law matters and a genuine opportunity to grow with the firm.

The successful Family Solicitor will be joining a firm known for its high standards of client care and strong local presence. As a Family Solicitor, you’ll be handling your own caseload with autonomy, while working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative environment. This position would suit a Family Solicitor who is confident managing a range of matters including divorce, financial remedy, cohabitation disputes, and private children matters.

The Family Solicitor’s role

The Family Solicitor will be responsible for running a full caseload of private family matters from instruction to completion. You will be expected to manage client relationships effectively and deliver clear, compassionate, and practical advice. You’ll work closely with other team members, benefiting from an open-door culture and shared knowledge.

Key responsibilities include:

• Handling divorce and separation matters

• Advising on financial settlements and pre/post-nuptial agreements

• Managing private children law cases including child arrangements and parental responsibility

• Supporting and mentoring junior team members where appropriate

• Ensuring all work complies with SRA regulations and firm procedures

The Family Solicitor

The successful candidate will ideally:

• Be a qualified Solicitor in England & Wales

• Have a minimum of 3 years’ PQE in family law

• Demonstrate excellent communication and client care skills

• Be confident working independently and as part of a team

• Ideally have experience working on privately funded family matters

• Membership of Resolution or willingness to join is desirable
