Job Details

  • Salary: £13.74 per hour
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Hours / Working pattern: Part‑time, 30 hours per week

What it's like to work here

The National Trust’s Montacute House is a stately home of Elizabethan renaissance architecture set in formal gardens, lawns, orchards and parkland. The property is currently ground‑floor only due to a conservation project on the staircases, but will soon be reopened to all levels. The Courtyard Café serves seasonal produce and the house is a major attraction with over visitors per year and open days per year.

As part of the South Somerset Portfolio, you will report to the Operations Manager and work closely with the Facilities Manager for the South Somerset portfolio. Your role includes cross‑portfolio work and supporting all departments onsite to ensure a great visitor experience.

Job Summary

As Facilities & Support Services Co‑ordinator, you will support day‑to‑day operations of the property, champion best practice, challenge the norm where appropriate, and ensure the delivery of an efficient, effective and flexible facilities service. The role involves administration of regular building tasks and compliance work, coordinating contractors and facilitating access, and maintaining the highest standards of presentation for the property.

Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of efficient facilities service that enables the operation of the property.
  • Ensure high standards of service are maintained in accordance with procedures and conservation guidelines.
  • Administer regular building tasks and compliance work.
  • Co‑ordinate contractors and facilitate access to the property.
  • Maintain overall presentation and appearance of the property.
  • Provide advice to the wider team and champion best practice.
Qualifications
  • Minimum: Experience in a customer‑facing or operational support role, ideally within a visitor attraction or property management setting.
  • Understanding of safety legislation and ability to conduct risk assessments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital platforms for records, communications and marketing tasks.
  • Collaboration skills – ability to work closely with colleagues, volunteers and other departments.
  • Adaptability and commitment to high‑standard service delivery across public areas and facilities.
  • Preferred: Experience in a facilities or business support role in a customer service environment.
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification, IWFM Associate Level 3 certificate or equivalent.
  • Good organisational and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Numeracy with basic financial skills.
  • Knowledge of health & safety, fire & security procedures and emergency procedures, diversity and equality procedures.
  • Advanced IT skills (Microsoft Office). Experience of records management and information systems.
  • Experience using computerised asset management system.
