The Bell in Charlbury is a laidback yet sophisticated modern British pub in a 17th‑century Cotswolds building. Known as a hidden gem, it offers a warm, family‑friendly space that opens into a dining experience focused on quality. With 13 beautifully appointed rooms and visually stunning food featuring vibrant organic seasonal ingredients from Daylesford Farm, The Bell combines comforting dishes with culinary flair. It regularly hosts events and workshops in collaboration with local organisations. The Bell fosters a culture where every team member is valued and every guest is welcomed like family.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure the restaurant and private dining spaces are set up for every meal period, respecting the restaurant‑specific standards.
  • Deliver outstanding guest service by exceeding expectations.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of all dishes and beverages, speaking them "to life" and being aware of allergens.
  • Keep a constant attentive eye on timing and flow at tables, highlighting delays to the manager.
  • Ensure all bills presented to guests are correct and cashed off correctly.
  • Bring our purpose to life by driving meaningful social and environmental improvements, contributing to our B Corp journey, and aligning with our sustainability vision.
Qualifications
  • Excellent Customer Service: Friendly, attentive, professional interaction with guests.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Clearly relay orders to the kitchen and answer questions about menu, specials, dietary concerns.
  • Multitasking & Efficiency: Handle multiple tables, manage time well, stay organised during busy shifts.
  • Knowledge of Food & Beverage: Familiarity with menu items, ingredients, pairings to make recommendations and upsell effectively.
  • Teamwork & Reliability: Collaborate with kitchen staff and fellow servers, maintain dependable work ethic and show up on time.
Compensation

Target earning potential: £32,479.20 per annum based on a 45‑hour contract – comprising a base salary of £29,969.20, plus a qualified estimate of £3,510 in gratuities and service charge.
