Job description

My client in Rotherham has a forward-thinking practice offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and progressive environment. With a competitive salary of up to £65,000 per annum (dependent on experience, full‑time equivalent), this role is available on either a full‑time or part‑time basis, with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week.

You will be joining a bright, spacious, air‑conditioned practice that has been purpose‑built to industry‑leading standards. The surgery is fully equipped with a dedicated operating theatre, digital X‑ray, in‑house laboratory, ultrasound, rigid endoscopy, laparoscopy and comprehensive dentistry facilities, allowing you to deliver high‑quality clinical care with confidence. They offer flexibility in shift patterns, along with 20‑minute consultations to support a manageable and enjoyable working day.

The position includes a share of Saturday morning cover, typically one in three or four Saturdays from 9 am to 12 pm. There are no out‑of‑hours duties, no Sundays and no Bank Holidays, with the exception of Good Friday. Their ethos is firmly centered on providing excellent clinical and client care while maintaining a positive, supportive working environment at the heart of the local community.

You will benefit from the strength and stability of working within a practice that is run locally. The practice is owned by a highly skilled Veterinary Surgeon with a CertSAS and advanced expertise in orthopaedics, BOAS, laparoscopy and complex surgery. He is supported by a Practice Manager and a close‑knit, experienced team comprising full‑time and part‑time vets, registered veterinary nurses, student nurses and a veterinary care assistant. Collaboration, mutual support and professional development are central to the way the team works.

Due to continued growth, the practice is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon with three or more years of experience who is confident in routine consultations and soft tissue surgery. While the role is ideally full time, part‑time hours can be accommodated, and flexibility is offered in how those hours are worked. Some sole charge will be involved.

In return, you can expect a generous CPD allowance, additional annual leave after one year of service, and your birthday off. The benefits package also includes exclusive company discounts alongside a competitive salary and excellent work‑life balance with no nights or on‑call duties.

If you are passionate about putting pets and their owners first and would like to be part of a friendly, progressive team that values both professional excellence and a great workplace culture, this could be the ideal next step in your career.
