Job description

We are seeking an energetic Events Manager to join our team, who will be responsible for the delivery of a portfolio of virtual and face-to-face events, providing an industry leading forum for debate and sector networking.

The Events Manager will be accountable for day-to-day operations planning, management and delivery of allocated events including conferences, exhibitions and award ceremonies, whilst supporting on wider events activities. Tasks include:

  • Supporting the Head of Events to develop a project plan, and ensuring that they meet all milestones
  • Take the lead on event operations planning and implementation across current and new events in the portfolio
  • Liaising with key contractors and venues, setting up virtual events platform where applicable
  • Direct liaison with sales partner to assist in coordinating the network of exhibitors and speakers, in the run-up to the events and providing feedback on viability, performance and other additional exhibitor and speaker opportunities
  • Working with Content and Marketing teams to identify timelines and opportunities for marketing and promotion, that ensure that they sell tickets and expo stands and that attendees are relevant prospects and clients
  • Owning, evaluating and ensuring performance of registration process and monitoring customer satisfaction
  • Owning individual event budgets and ensuring timely and accurate processing of all invoices and contracts, tracking sales
  • Managing and directing agency production support and digital event platforms
  • Overseeing speaker invitation process, including arranging travel and accommodation
  • Coordinate and participate in regular meetings with partners
  • Identifying and recruiting volunteers and staff as part of event planning process around major events to maximise their presence and value delivered back to the institution
  • Managing all follow-up activities, producing post-event reports and evaluation
  • Seeking and advising on opportunities to grow and develop the events programme in future
  • Managing call for papers, content submission, and related processes.

About you:

  • Proven experience of organising complex events, small events and large conferences – from 100 to 1500 delegates – either by yourself, or as part of a team
  • Experience managing budgets and delivering events within those budgets
  • Strategic thinker – you can see where events fit into the bigger picture, creative and have excellent problem-solving skills
  • Tech-savvy with a demonstrable understanding of comms and marketing for events as well as experience running virtual events
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and engage effectively within a team as well as networking
  • Experience managing third-party relationships in the lead-up to and during a major event.
  • Experience developing the content of events
  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel and the creation of visually engaging reports and presentations
  • Capable of remaining calm under pressure and working to deadlines, confident to use own initiative and manage own workload, anticipating and proactively solving important issues

Desirable Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience working with Cvent event software
  • Experience running exhibition component of events
  • Experience managing social media campaigns around events
