Job summary

A leading engineering recruitment company in the UK seeks an Estimator to prepare accurate pricing for tenders and support clients with pricing for projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong civil engineering knowledge and commercial awareness of contract forms. Responsibilities include coordinating with the Bid Manager and advising on cost-effective design options. This is a permanent role based in Swindon, with a competitive salary and a commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.

Hours of work: Mon to Fri
Salary: Competitive

Role Responsibilities
  • Preparations of detailed and accurate pricing for tenders
  • Supporting Clients with pricing support for early contractor involvement projects
  • Ensure company governance procedures are always followed
  • Work in coordination with the Bid Manager to ensure competitive pricing
  • Agree methodologies and outputs for key activities with planner and, where appropriate, with Bid Manager / Design Manager
  • Provide advice to Bid Manager / Design Manager on most cost-effective design options
  • Price alternative design solutions
  • Procedure competitive price using methodologies and outputs etc to suit conditions/situations relevant to the scheme
  • Advise Bid Manager of sufficiency of client bill of quantity / activity schedule and arrange for full quantity take off or checking as required
Required Knowledge
  • Sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques
  • Knowledge of relevant procurement legislation
  • Commercial awareness of different forms of contract
